Abstract

Every English student should have at least four skills for the teaching-learning to run conductively. Nevertheless, there are still several challenges that students and teachers face in improving speaking skills. For example, students' interest in speaking English inside the classroom is still lacking, so it is tough for the teacher to understand their thoughts and ideas. This research was conducted using quantitative research methods and implemented by quasi-experimental design. The result was shown that the Sig. The value for both groups was less than 0.05, specifically (Sig. 2-tailed) 0.000, which was analyzed by SPSS and implemented the Paired-Sample T-Test model. This conclusion leads to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho). This confirms that Project-Based Learning has a significant positive effect on students' speaking skills. Moreover, the researcher also measured the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) intervention by counting the n-gain value. According to the student's pre-test and post-test results, the n-gain score of 0.5707 and an n-gain percentage of 57% place the PjBL intervention in the medium and effective categories, respectively.
