Abstract
Students are inseparable from the development of fashion trens in their daily activities. The focus of the problem in this research is students who wear thrift clothes as a fashion tren and thrifting as a subculture for students. The purpose of this research is to explain the subculture in thrifting culture and the existence of thrifting as a fashion tren for FKIP Untirta students. In examining the existing problems, researchers used qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. This research was conducted at FKIP Untirta with the research subjects being FKIP Untirta students. Data collection techniques in this study used observation, interview and documentation methods. The data analysis method is by compiling the data systematically and analyzing it with the Subculture theory from Dick Hebdige's figure. The results showed that students recognize and do thrifting because of the spread of thrift existence through social media platforms such as Intagram and TikTok, peer influence, and thrifting fashion trens. Based on field data, thrifting culture has maintained its existence because there are aesthetic, economic and social values contained in every thrifting purchase and the meaning of thrifting as a fashion tren, scarcity and daily lifestyle of students. This will create symbols or markings that are characterized in thrifting clothes worn by students, such as thrift clothes with vintage style, low prices showing shabby clothes, faded colors.

| Additional Information: | Mahasiswa tidak terlepas dari perkembangan tren fashion dalam aktivitas sehari-hari. Fokus masalah pada penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa yang memakai pakaian thrift sebagai tren fashion dan thrifting sebagai subkultur bagi mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan subkultur dalam budaya thrifting dan eksistensi dari thrifting sebagai tren fashion mahasiswa FKIP Untirta. Dalam meneliti permasalahan yang ada, peneliti menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di FKIP Untirta dengan subjek penelitian yaitu mahasiswa FKIP Untirta. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Metode analisis datanya dengan menyusun data secara sistematis dan menganalisisnya dengan teori Subkultur dari tokoh Dick Hebdige. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mengenal dan melakukan thrifting karena adanya penyebaran eksistensi thrift melalui platform sosial media seperti Intagram dan TikTok, pengaruh teman sebaya, serta adanya tren fashion thrifting. Berdasarkan data lapangan budaya thrifting tetap terjaga eksistensinya karena terdapat nilai estetika, ekonomis dan sosial yang terkandung dalam setiap pembelian thrifting dan makna thrifting sebagai tren fashion, kelangkaan dan gaya hidup mahasiswa sehari-hari. Hal ini akan membuat simbol atau penandaan yang dicirikan dalam pakaian thrifting yang dikenakan oleh mahasiswa, seperti pakaian thrift dengan gaya vintage, harga yang murah memperlihatkan pakaian lusuh, warna pudar. | |||||||||
