Abstract

This research is entitled The Role of Teachers in the Green School Program to Strengthen the Environmentally Caring Character of Students at the National Adiwiyata School, SD YPWKS V. The aim of this research is to determine the design of the green school program, the implementation of the green school program, teachers' understanding of the green school program, and the role of teachers. in the green school program in strengthening the character of caring for the environment at YPWKS V Elementary School. This research uses descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this research were the principal, class teachers, and students at SD YPWKS V. The data collection techniques used in this research were interviews, observation, and documentation. The data obtained qualitatively shows that the teacher's role in program design is identifying environmental problems that exist in the school and determining specific needs that must be addressed through the green school program, actively participating in formulating ideas and concepts and designing the curriculum. In implementing the green school program, the majority of residents at SD YPWKS V have implemented the green school program during teaching and learning activities and activities outside the classroom and have implemented it in their daily lives. Apart from that, the teachers at YPWKS V Elementary School already understand the concept of green school so that teachers can understand the indicators of students who already have insight into caring for the environment. The role of the teacher in forming environmentally caring character is that the teacher becomes a student facilitator to provide understanding to students, directing and guiding and providing concrete examples so that students at YPWKS Elementary School already have an environmentally caring character.

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perancangan program green school, penerapan program green school, pemahaman guru pada program green school, serta peran guru pada program green school dalam menguatkan karakter peduli lingkungan di SD YPWKS V. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru kelas, serta peserta didik di SD YPWKS V. Adapun teknik dalam pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh secara kualitatif menunjukan bahwa peran guru dalam perancangan program yaitu mengidentifikasikan masalah lingkungan yang ada di sekolah dan menentukan kebutuhan spesifik yang harus di atasi melalui program green school, ikut turut aktif merumuskan ide-ide dan konsep-kosenp serta merancang kurikulum. Dalam pelakasanaan program green school sebagian besar warga di SD YPWKS V sudah melaksanakan program green school pada saat kegiatan belajar mengajar maupun kegiatan di luar kelas dan sudah menerapkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu guru-guru di SD YPWKS V sudah memahami konsep green school sehingga guru dapat memahami indikator peserta didik yang sudah memiliki wawasan peduli lingkungan. Adanya peran guru pada dalam pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan ialah guru menjadi fasilitator peserta didik untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada peserta didik, mengarahkan dan membimbing serta memberikan contoh kongkret sehingga peserta didik di SD YPWKS sudah memiliki karakter peduli lingkungan.
