Abstract
The research entitled Teacher Talk in English Classroom Interaction at Eakkapap Sasanawich Islamic School, Krabi, Thailand was a descriptive case study that analyzed by using qualitative methods. The objective of this study was to observe the dominant category of teacher talk and to find out the characteristic of classroom interaction that appeared in the teaching and learning process. The data used in this research were video transcripts of teaching and learning process in English Classroom. The technique of collecting data in this research used findings from observation, documents, and interview. The participants of this research were an English teacher and students of first grade of Senior High School at Eakkapap Sasanawich Islamic School. The data of this research were analyzed by using Flander’s Interaction Analysis Categories (FIAC) which focused on teacher talk. There were four steps in analyzing the data namely transcribing, coding, interpreting, and finishing. The result showed that all the 7 categories of teacher talk appeared in the classroom, but the dominant category of teacher talk was asking questions which reached 21,50% from the total meeting of teacher talk and the characteristic of classroom interaction was content cross which reached 50,89% of the total proportion of the meetings.
