Abstract

This research aims to find out the implementation of the Hello English application as a learning media for improving the students' speaking skill and response. With empploying a qualitative method by implementing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) desig. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Ciomas and focused on 29 seventh-grade students in class 7B. The instruments used for this reserach are observation, tests, and questionnaires. The researcher applied two cycles consisted of six meetings where one cycle had three mertings included planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Based on the finding that the reseracher analyzed from student’s response in questionnaire, It was obtained a result of the response to the implementation of HE app that "51.7% of students understood the material, and 62.1% showed improvement in their speaking skills as a result of the response. "Meanwhile, the discussion revealed that the pre-test data showed an average score of 53.03% for the students, which was below the KKM score before Cycle 1 began.Futhermore, the result of a pos-test 1 in cycle 1was gained with the averege score of 78.44% and had an improvement 24.45%. Morever, in a post-test 2 in cycle 2 was gained an average score of 80% and had an improvement of 1.56%. Therefore, the Use of the Hello English Application as a Learning Media for Improving the Students’ Speaking Skill is successful based on the data that the reasercher have analyzed on the finding and the discussion.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan aplikasi Hello English sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan respons siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menerapkan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 1 Ciomas dan berfokus pada 29 siswa kelas tujuh di kelas 7B. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, tes, dan kuesioner. Peneliti menerapkan dua siklus yang terdiri dari enam pertemuan, di mana satu siklus memiliki tiga pertemuan yang mencakup perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Berdasarkan temuan yang dianalisis peneliti dari respons siswa dalam kuesioner, diperoleh hasil bahwa "51,7% siswa memahami materi, dan 62,1% menunjukkan peningkatan dalam keterampilan berbicara mereka sebagai hasil dari respons tersebut." Sementara itu, diskusi mengungkapkan bahwa data pre-test menunjukkan skor rata-rata 53,03% untuk siswa, yang berada di bawah skor KKM sebelum Siklus 1 dimulai. Selain itu, hasil post-test 1 pada siklus 1 diperoleh dengan skor rata-rata 78,44% dan mengalami peningkatan sebesar 24,45%. Lebih lanjut, pada post-test 2 di siklus 2 diperoleh skor rata-rata 80% dengan peningkatan sebesar 1,56%. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan Aplikasi Hello English sebagai Media Pembelajaran untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa berhasil berdasarkan data yang telah dianalisis peneliti pada temuan dan diskusi.
