Abstract
The main objective of this study is to determine whether the U-Dictionary application is effective in the mastery of English vocabulary of Eight-Grade students. This research used the quantitative with the quasi-experimental design. This research used two classes to conduct pre-test and post-test. The eighth-grade population at MTsN 3 Kota Cilegon was 191 students. This research used cluster sampling. The sample of this research was 64 students, which consisted of 32 students from class A as an experimental class, and 32 students from class C as a control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used a test in the form of pre-test and post-test of vocabulary mastery to measure the students’ English vocabulary. The data was analyzed with the statistical calculation of the t-test formula through the SPSS version 23 program. The result of this research showed the sig. value (2-tailed) is 0.000, where this value is lower than the significant level of 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). It is shown that Ha was accepted while H0 was rejected. The effect size obtained is 0.93092, which is included in the large effect category. Therefore it could be concluded that there is an effect of the U-Dictionary as a learning media on students' English vocabulary.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan apakah aplikasi U-Dictionary efektif dalam penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa Kelas Delapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-eksperimental. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas untuk melakukan pre-test dan post-test. Populasi kelas delapan di MTsN 3 Kota Cilegon adalah 191 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan cluster sampling. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 64 siswa, yang terdiri dari 32 siswa dari kelas A sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan 32 siswa dari kelas C sebagai kelas kontrol. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan tes dalam bentuk pre-test dan post-test penguasaan kosakata untuk mengukur kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa. Data dianalisis dengan perhitungan statistik rumus t-test melalui program SPSS versi 23. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,000, di mana nilai ini lebih rendah dari tingkat signifikansi 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Ha diterima sedangkan H0 ditolak. Besarnya pengaruh yang diperoleh adalah 0,93092 yang termasuk dalam kategori pengaruh besar. Oleh karena itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh media pembelajaran U-Dictionary terhadap kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa. | |||||||||
