Abstract

This research aims to determine of effect gibberellin (GA3) on application on the characteristics on melon (Cucumis melo L.). This study is experimental research conducted at the PT. Fitotech Agri Lestari experimental garden in Dramaga, Bogor from November 2023 to Februari 2024. The experiment was arranged in a non factorials randomized block design with four levels of gibberellin concentration: 0 ppm, 60 ppm, 120 ppm, and 180 ppm. The experiment was repeated six times. The parameters observed were fruit shape, skin color, flesh color, fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, flesh thickness, sugar content, and edible portion. Based on the analysis of variance (ANOVA) there were significant effect of fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, fruit thickness, and sugar content. Meanwhile, the edible portion parameter, based on regression analysis showed a tendency to increase with the increasing concentration of gibberellin.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari aplikasi dan konsentrasi optimal zat pengatur tumbuh giberelin (GA3) terhadap karakteristik buah melon minion (Cucumis melo L.) di PT. Fitotech Agri Lestari Kecamatan Dramaga, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat (-6.547777,106.723264) pada bulan November 2023 s.d Februari 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial yaitu pemberian konsentrasi giberelin yang terdiri atas 4 taraf yaitu 0 ppm, 60 ppm, 120 ppm, dan 180 ppm. Pada tiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 6 kali sehingga diperoleh 72 satuan percobaan. Parameter yang diamati yaitu bentuk buah, warna kulit buah, warna daging buah, panjang buah, lebar buah, bobot buah, ketebalan daging buah, kadar gula, edible portion, dan jumlah biji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang sangat nyata terhadap bobot buah, panjang buah, lebar buah, ketebalan daging buah, dan kadar gula. Serta adanya kecenderungan peningkatan edible portion dengan semakin meningkatnya konsentrasi giberelin berdasarkan analisis regresi. Aplikasi giberelin dengan konsentrasi 60 ppm menjadi perlakuan terbaik terhadap karakteristik buah, terutama pada bobot buah, panjang buah, lebar buah, dan ketebalan daging buah.
