Abstract
This research aims to investigate the influence of political news on students’ critical thinking abilities in the Pancasila and Civic Education subject at SMAN 1 Pandeglang specifically in XI class. The sampling technique used in this research is Probability Sampling using Simple Random Sampling. In data processing, the type of research used in this research is quantitative research, using experimental research method. Experimental research is a method used to look for the impact of specific treatments on others under controlled conditions (Sugiyono, 2013: 72). The experimental design in this research is True Experimental Design and its form is the Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. In True Experimental Design, testing of independent and dependent variables is conducted on the experimental group and control group samples. For this study, XI 4 class serves as the experimental group and XI 3 class as the control group, both from SMAN 1 Pandeglang. And for data collection techniques in this research is using tests, in the form of essay test questions given to students during the pre-test and post-test examinations. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive data analysis and inferential statistical analysis with data prerequisites tests, such as normality and homogenity tests. In the normality test, there were abnormal results in the post-test control class with a result of 0,020<0,05. Due to this, the researcher used a non-parametric statistical test for hypothesis testing. The hypothesis test in this research is used The Mann-Whitney Test, yielding a result of Asymp.Sig (2 Tailed) as 0,000<0,05. It can be concluded that the provision of political news media to the critical thinking abilities of students, there is significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. And it can also be stated that “there is an influence of political news on students’ critical thinking abilities in the pancasila and civic education subject".

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berita politik terhadap kemampuan bernalar kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran PPKn di SMAN 1 Pandeglang khususnya di kelas XI. Teknik dalam pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Probability Sampling dengan bentuk Simple Random Sampling. Dalam pengolahan datanya, jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kuantitatif, dengan metode penelitian eksperimen. Penelitian eksperimen ialah metode penelitian yang digunakan untuk mencari pengaruh perlakuan tertentu terhadap yang lain dalam kondisi yang terkendalikan (Sugiyono, 2013: 72). Desain eksperimen dalam penelitian ini adalah True Experimental Design dan bentuknya ialah Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. Dalam penelitian True Experimental Design, pengujian variabel bebas dan variabel terikat dilaksanakan terhadap sampel kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Untuk penelitian ini, yang menjadi kelompok eksperimen yaitu kelas XI 4 dan untuk kelompok kontrolnya yaitu kelas XI 3, SMAN 1 Pandeglang. Dan untuk teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini ialah dengan menggunakan tes, berupa soal tes uraian/essay yang diberikan pada peserta didik pada saat pelaksanaan uji pre-test dan juga post-test. Analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis data dekriptif dan juga analisis statistik inferensial dengan uji prasyaratan data dengan uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas. Pada uji normalitasnya, terdapat hasil nilai yang tidak normal pada hasil uji post-test kelas kontrol dimana hasilnya ialah 0,020<0,05. Dengan adanya hal ini, peneliti menggunakan uji statistik non parametris untuk uji hipotesisnya. Uji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney atau Mann-Whitney U Test dengan mendapatkan hasil nilai Asymp.Sig (2 Tailed) sebesar 0,000<0,05, dan dapat diambil kesimpulan pula bahwa pemberian media berita politik terhadap bernalar kritis peserta didik terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dan dapat dikatakan pula bahwa “ada pengaruh berita politik terhadap kemampuan bernalar kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran PPKn’. | |||||||||
