Abstract
This research investigates the impact of digital storytelling on the speaking skills of eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Cigeulis using a quasi-experimental research design. Conducted from May 1 to May 21, 2024, the study involved 40 students divided into a control class and an experimental class, with the latter participating in digital storytelling activities using audio recording tools. The results showed that the experimental class exhibited significant improvements in pronunciation, fluency, and vocabulary usage, along with higher levels of engagement and motivation. Despite challenges such as limited access to digital devices and the need for initial training, the study concluded that digital storytelling is an effective tool for enhancing English speaking skills in junior high school students. Recommendations include investments in digital infrastructure, professional development for teachers, structured curriculum integration, and continuous assessment to maximize the benefits of digital storytelling.
