Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of character education in preventing cyberbullying behavior in MA Negeri 2 Serang City, where currently there are a large number of social media users such as WhatsApp and Instagram. The large number of social media users creates a serious problem, namely cyberbullying, this makes the role of character education very important to be implemented well. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are the application of character education at MA Negeri 2 Serang City in preventing cyberbullying behavior through intracurricular activities in Civics and Aqidah Akhlak subjects and also in co-curricular activities through da'wah training activities. Then character education at MA Negeri 2 Serang City has a role in preventing students from carrying out cyberbullying behavior because students have moral knowledge and moral feelings within themselves, but students do not have moral actions in dealing with cyberbullying behavior. Then, in carrying out character education, there are inhibiting factors, including the lack of cooperation between parents and schools in supervising students in using social media and schools cannot monitor students' behavior 24 hours a day. Then there are supporting factors, including enforcement of rules implemented by schools and also the existence of material regarding the wise use of social media in the subjects of Aqidah Akhlak and Civics.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui peran pendidikan karakter dalam pencegahan perilaku cyberbullying di MA Negeri 2 Kota Serang, dimana pada saat ini pengguna media sosial seperti WhatsApp dan Instagram memiliki jumlah yang banyak. Banyaknya pengguna media sosial menimbulkan permasalahan serius yakni cyberbullying, hal ini membuat peran pendidikan karakter sangat penting untuk dilaksanakan dengan baik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini yakni penerapan pendidikan karakter di MA Negeri 2 Kota Serang dalam pencegahan perilaku cyberbullying melalui kegiatan intrakurikuler dalam mata pelajaran PPKn serta Akidah Akhlak dan juga dalam kegiatan kokurikuler melalui kegiatan traning dakwah. Kemudian pendidikan karakter di MA Negeri 2 Kota Serang memiliki peranan dalam mencegah peserta didik melakukan perilaku cyberbullying dikarenakan peserta didik memiliki pengetahuan moral dan perasaan moral dalam diri mereka masing-masing, namun peserta didik tidak memiliki tindakan moral dalam menghadapi perilaku cyberbullying. Kemudian dalam menjalankan pendidikan karakter terdapat faktor penghambat diantaranya kurangnya kerja sama antara orang tua dan sekolah dalam mengawasi peserta didik dalam menggunakan media sosial dan sekolah tidak dapat mengawasi perilaku peserta didik selama 24 jam. Kemudian terdapat faktor pendukung antara lain penegakan aturan yang dilaksanakan sekolah dan juga adanya materi mengenai penggunaan media sosial yang bijak dalam mata pelajaran Akidah Akhlak dan PPKn.
