Abstract

With the Tiktok application, you can see short films showing various artist expressions. The aim of this research is to collect empirical evidence to what extent Untirta Communication Science students are influenced by their FOMO behavior by the Tiktok application. Communication science students were chosen because they are ideal respondents for this research, in literature studies they often study various media. According to the S-O-R theory, we can understand that the stimulus from TikTok content influences students' internal processes (organisms), which then influence their responses in the form of FoMO behavior. This suggests that interactions with social media such as TikTok are not just about content consumption, but also involve complex psychological processes that can have a significant impact on students' mental well-being and social behavior. Researchers used a quantitative approach in this research. The findings of this study will provide a general picture of the cause-and-effect relationship. The method used was a survey method, with 89 respondents from Untirta students majoring in communication science. In the distribution table, the t table value is 1,662 with a DK of 87 with a significance level of 10%. From this value we can proceed to the next stage by comparing the calculated t of 6,250 with the t table of 1,662. This means that 6,250 1,662 can be interpreted as t count t table, so it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted, which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is an influence between the use of TikTok social media on the fear of missing out behavior of communication science students at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University Class of 2020 - 2023. The coefficient of determination table shows that the R Square value (coefficient of determination) is 0.310, while the Adjusted R Square value is 0.302, which is This means that it can be concluded that the level of correlation or relationship with the R value is low, a value of 0.310 means that 31% of the fear of missing out (Variable Y) is influenced by the use of TikTok social media (variable x) and 69% (100% - 31%) again influenced by other factors not included in this study.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengumpulkan bukti empiris sejauh mana mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Untirta terpengaruh perilaku FOMO-nya oleh aplikasi Tiktok. Mahasiswa ilmu komunikasi dipilih karena mereka responden yang ideal untuk penelitian ini, dalam studi literatur mereka sering mengkaji berbagai media. Menurut teori S-O-R, kita dapat memahami bahwa stimulus dari konten TikTok mempengaruhi proses internal mahasiswa (organisme), yang kemudian mempengaruhi respons mereka dalam bentuk perilaku FoMO. Ini menunjukkan bahwa interaksi dengan media sosial seperti TikTok tidak hanya soal konsumsi konten, tetapi juga melibatkan proses psikologis yang kompleks yang dapat berdampak signifikan pada kesejahteraan mental dan perilaku sosial mahasiswa. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dalam penelitian ini. Temuan penelitian ini akan memberikan gambaran umum tentang hubungan sebab-akibat. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei, dengan 89 responden mahasiswa Untirta jurusan ilmu komunikasi. Pada tabel distribusi nilai t tabel diperoleh 1.662 dengan DK 87 dengan taraf signifikansi 10%. Dari nilai tersebut bisa kita lanjutkan ke tahap selanjutnya dengan membandingan t hitung sebesar 6.250 dengan t tabel 1.662. Berarti 6.250 1.662 dapat diartikan bahwa t hitung t tabel, jadi dapat disimpulkan Hipotesis diterima yang berarti H0 di tolak dan Ha diterima. Artinnya terdapat pengaruh antara penggunaan media sosial tiktok terhadap perilaku fear of missing out mahasiswa ilmu komunikasi Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Angkatan 2020 – 2023. Dari tabel koefisien determinasi menunjukan nilai R Square (koefisien determinasi) sebesar 0.310, sedangkan nilai Adjusted R Squar sebesar 0.302, yang berarti dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat korelasi atau hubungan dengan nilai R bernilai rendah, nilai 0.310 memiliki arti bahwa sebesar 31% fear of missing out (Variabel Y) dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan media sosial tiktok (variabel x) dan 69% (100% - 31%) lagi dipengaruhi oleh faktor – faktor lainnya yang tidak termasuk dalam penelitian ini.
