Abstract

The background of this research is based on the difficulties faced by students in understanding three-dimensional material. This material is often considered abstract and complex, so it requires effective learning tools to help students master it. Therefore, this research aims to develop learning tools that can overcome these problems by using Cognitive Load theory as the basis for development. The development model used is Plomp's development model which consists of three main phases: preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. In the preliminary research phase, a needs analysis was conducted. Furthermore, in the prototyping phase, the learning tools were developed and tested for validity by two material experts, two media experts, and two education experts. The validation results show that the learning tools are valid. After validity, the practicality test was conducted. The practicality test involved one teacher and ten students. In addition, this learning tool was also tested for effectiveness in class 12 IPA 2 at SMAN 1 Tirtayasa. The results showed that the learning tools developed were not only valid and practical, but also effective in improving students' understanding of the third dimension material. Thus, this learning tool based on Cognitive Load theory can be used as an alternative in teaching the third dimension material in high school.

Additional Information: Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa dalam memahami materi dimensi tiga. Materi ini sering kali dianggap abstrak dan kompleks, sehingga memerlukan perangkat pembelajaran yang efektif untuk membantu siswa menguasainya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan menggunakan teori Cognitive Load sebagai dasar pengembangan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase utama: preliminary research, prototyping phase, dan assessment phase. Pada fase preliminary research, dilakukan analisis kebutuhan. Selanjutnya, pada fase prototyping, perangkat pembelajaran dikembangkan dan diuji validitasnya oleh dua ahli materi, dua ahli media, dan dua ahli pendidikan. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran tersebut valid. Setelah valid dilakukan uji kepraktisan. Uji kepraktisan melibatkan satu guru dan sepuluh siswa. Selain itu, perangkat pembelajaran ini juga diuji efektivitasnya pada kelas 12 IPA 2 di SMAN 1 Tirtayasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan tidak hanya valid dan praktis, tetapi juga efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi dimensi tiga. Dengan demikian, perangkat pembelajaran berbasis teori Cognitive Load ini dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif dalam pengajaran materi dimensi tiga di sekolah menengah atas.
