Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the mistakes made by students in solving HOTS-type description questions on flat-sided space building material and describe the factors that cause students to make mistakes. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. By involving research subjects as many as 8 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja. The instruments used are test and interview instruments. The data collection techniques used are the description test method, interviews and documentation. The results of the research on errors made by students based on Watson's criteria include, 1) in the aspect of analyzing, namely Improper Data Errors, Improper Procedure Errors, Missing Conclusion Errors and Skill Hierarchy Problem Errors, 2) aspects of evaluating, namely Missing Data Errors, Missing Conclusions, and Errors Other than Seven Types of Errors, 3) aspects of creating, namely Improper Data Errors, Missing Data Errors, Missing Conclusion Errors, Indirect Manipulation Errors, and Errors Other than Seven Types of Errors. For the factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving HOTS problems, namely due to students' lack of understanding of the problem, students are less careful in the calculation process, and students do not develop their creativity in solving problems. So it can be concluded that students still make many mistakes when solving HOTS problems based on Watson's criteria which are caused by students not understanding the problems in the questions.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan soal uraian tipe HOTS pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar dan mendeskripsikan faktor penyebab peserta didik melakukan kesalahan. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dengan melibatkan subjek penelitian sebanyak 8 orang peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Balaraja. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu instrumen Tes dan Wawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu metode tes uraian, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Adapun hasil dari penelitian kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh peserta didik berdasarkan kriteria Watson antara lain, 1) pada aspek menganalisis yaitu Kesalahan Data Tidak Tepat, Kesalahan Prosedur Tidak Tepat, Kesalahan Kesimpulan Hilang dan Kesalahan Masalah Hierarki Keterampilan, 2) aspek mengevaluasi yaitu Kesalahan Data Hilang, Kesimpulan Hilang, dan Kesalahan Selain Tujuh Jenis Kesalahan, 3) aspek mencipta yaitu Kesalahan Data Tidak Tepat, Kesalahan Data Hilang, Kesalahan Kesimpulan Hilang, Kesalahan Manipulasi Tidak Langsung, dan Kesalahan Selain Tujuh Jenis Kesalahan. Untuk faktor penyebab peserta didik melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal HOTS yaitu karena kurangnya pemahaman peserta didik terhadap soal tersebut, peserta didik kurang teliti dalam proses perhitungan, dan peserta didik kurang mengembangkan kreativitasnya dalam menyelesaikan soal. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa peserta didik masih banyak melakukan kesalahan-kesalahan saat menyelesaikan soal HOTS berdasarkan kriteria Watson yang disebabkan karena peserta didik kurang memahami permasalahan pada soalnya.
