Abstract
Writing short stories should be a skill that students can master. However, in reality, quite a few students find it difficult to write a short story. These difficulties are basically caused by students' lack of understanding of the short story material itself. The use of inappropriate learning models is also one of the causes of students' lack of ability in short story writing skills. The aim of this research is to describe the influence of the Picture and Picture model, the Make a Match model, and the differences in the influence of the two models on the writing skills of class IX students at SMPN 10 Serang City. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach and design selection in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique is cluster sampling. Data collection techniques from the results of short story writing tests are in the form of pretests and posttests for experimental classes and control classes with assessment instruments, namely content, organization and presentation, and language. In this research, findings were obtained in the form of the influence of the Picture and Picture model with an average pretest score of 49.5 and posttest of 79.9, the influence of the Make a Match model with an average pretest score of 47.2 and posttest of 75.3 , and it was found that the posttest difference showed that the Picture and Picture model was superior with a difference of 4.6 points. It can be concluded that the Picture and Picture model is superior to the Make a Match model for improving students' short story writing skills.

Additional Information: | Menulis cerpen seharusnya menjadi keterampilan yang dapat dikuasai oleh siswa. Namun, pada kenyataannya tidak sedikit siswa yang merasa kesulitan dalam menulis sebuah cerpen. Kesulitan tersebut pada dasarnya disebabkan oleh pemahaman siswa yang kurang terhadap materi cerpen itu sendiri. Penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang tepat juga menjadi salah satu penyebab kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini, yakni mendeskripsikan pengaruh model Picture and Picture, model Make a Match, dan perbedaan pengaruh kedua model tersebut terhadap keterampilan Menulis siswa kelas IX SMPN 10 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan pemilihan desain berupa pretest-posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan cluster sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dari hasil tes menulis cerpen berupa pretest dan posttest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan instrument penilaian yaitu isi, organisasi dan penyajian, serta Bahasa. Dalam penelitian ini, didapatkan temuan berupa pengaruh model Picture and Picture dengan rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 49,5 dan posttest sebesar 79,9, pengaruh model Make a Match dengan rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 47,2 dan posttest sebesar 75,3, dan ditemukan perbedaan posttest menunjukkan model Picture and Picture lebih unggul dengan selisih 4,6 poin. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Picture and Picture lebh unggul dibandingkan dengan model Make a Match untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa. | |||||||||
