Abstract

The development of science process skills (KPS) in Indonesia are still very low, as evidenced by students who are only able to recognize basic facts without relating them in daily life to chemical equilibrium’s topics. This is very concerning considering that chemistry is the development of concepts independently through scientific work. For this reason, PPP can be improved with the LC 9E learning model because it is based on experiment. This study aims to find out the differences before and after the LC 9E learning model is applied to science process skills, as well as to find out the increase in science process skills in chemical equilibrium’s topic after the LC 9E model is applied. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest one group design. The research sample amounted to 32 students in grades XI-3 of SMAN 3 Serang City which were obtained through purposive sampling techniques with research instruments in the form of teaching modules, LKPD, PPP test questions, and observation sheets. The data obtained was analyzed through Microsoft Excel and the SPSS 27.0 program. After testing the hypothesis with the paired sample T-test method, this study succeeded in proving that there was a difference before and after the LC 9E learning model was applied to science process skills through sg values. (2-tailed) of 0.00, and succeeded in proving the improvement of science process skills through high N-gain values in 7 science process skills’s indicators. The increase of science process skills is evidenced by the difference in the percentage of the average score of the science process skills test questions of 56.51% in the high category after the application of the LC 9E learning model and the average of science process skills score on the observation sheet which is 78% in the good category.

Additional Information: Rata-rata keterampilan proses sains (KPS) di Indonesia masih sangat rendah yang dibuktikan dengan siswa hanya mampu mengenali fakta dasar tanpa mengaitkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari pada materi kesetimbangan kimia. Hal tersebut sangat memprihatinkan mengingat ilmu kimia ialah pembangunan konsep secara mandiri melalui kerja ilmiah. Untuk itu, KPS dapat ditingkatkan dengan model pembelajaran LC 9E karena berbasis praktikum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan model pembelajaran LC 9E terhadap KPS, serta mengetahui adanya peningkatan KPS siswa pada materi kesetimbangan kimia setelah diterapkan model LC 9E. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-experimental dengan pendekatan pretest-posttest one group design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa kelas XI-3 SMAN 3 Kota Serang yang diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan instrumen penelitian berupa modul ajar, LKPD, soal tes KPS, dan lembar observasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis melalui microsoft excel dan program SPSS 27.0. Setelah pengujian hipotesis dengan metode paired sample T-test, penelitian ini berhasil membuktikan adanya perbedaan sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan model pembelajaran LC 9E terhadap keterampilan proses sains melalui nilai sg. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00, serta berhasil membuktikan adanya peningkatan keterampilan proses sains melalui nilai N-gain berkategori tinggi pada 7 indikator KPS. Peningkatan KPS dibuktikan dengan adanya selisih persentase nilai rata-rata soal tes KPS sebesar 56,51% berkategori tinggi setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran LC 9E dan rata-rata nilai KPS pada lembar observasi yaitu sebesar 78% berkategori baik.
