Abstract

In engineering civil building construction, soil layers are often found that have low support ,which greatly influences various stages of construction design, both in the planning stage, the implementation stage, and the operational and maintenance stages. Therefore, it is very important to know the land problems in the field, and to make efforts to improve them. This test aims to determine the soil classification, soil plasticity index, and determine the effect of adding Bottom Ash waste to the physical properties of the soil, as well as knowing the value of free soil compressive strength under existing conditions and after mixing Bottom Ash. The moisture content of the test object is taken from the results of the standard proctor compaction on the original soil. From the test results obtained, the soil stabilized with Bottom Ash in variations of 0%, 20%, 30% and 40% showed an increase in the value of soil carrying capacity and a decrease in the value of the soil plasticity index. The largest value of free compressive strength was found on the soil with a mixture of Bottom Ash levels of 30% with a curing time of 28 days which was 4,857 kg / cm2. curing effect on the compressive strength for fly ash has pozzolan properties that is, like cement needed time to strengthen binding.
