Abstract

A crisis must has hit every organization and institution at some point. Such situations can damage an organization’s reputation. In 2023, the Tangerang Regency Government was widely reported negatively due to environmental pollution, resulting in heightened awareness among many parties and threatening the government’s reputation. This research aims to describe the phases experienced and the strategies undertaken by the Tangerang Regency Government. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with the Tangerang Regency Government and stakeholders. The informants in this study comprised 5 individuals: 2 primary informants and 3 supporting informants. The researcher conducted the study using the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT), focusing on the phases and strategies of crisis response. The research findings show that the Tangerang Regency Government went through three crisis phases:Pre-Crisis, which involved identifying issues developing in the media and establishing media partnerships. Crisis Event, during which a circular letter containing regulations was issued to the media, and the regent held a doorstop interview. Post-Crisis, where the Tangerang Regency Government conducted monthly evaluations with relevant consultants to determine the best steps based on media monitoring results through a media monitoring portal. Then, they carry out the Diminish Strategy (reducing the impact) and Bolstering (reinforcement).

Additional Information: Krisis pasti pernah melanda setiap organisasi maupun instansi. Situasi ini dapat merusak reputasi suatu organisasi. Pada Tahun 2023, Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang banyak diberitakan negatif terkait pencemaran lingkungan, akibatnya banyak pihak yang sadar akan hal tersebut dan membuat reputasi Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang terancam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fase yang dialami dan strategi yang diambil oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dalam, Metode wawancara mendalam atau indepth interview dilakukan kepada Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang dan Stakeholder. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 5 orang. Orang terdiri 2 orang informan utama dan 3 informan pendukung. Peneliti melakukan penelitian menggunakan teori Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) dengan berfokus pada bagian fase dan strategi respon krisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang mengalami 3 Fase krisis yaitu, Pre-Crisis, yaitu mengidentifikasi isu yang berkembang dimedia dan memiliki media partner. Pada Crisis Event memberikan surat edaran berupa aturan kepada media dan doorstop yang dilakukan oleh bupati. Lalu, pada Post Crisis, Pemerintah Kabupaten Tangerang melakukan evaluasi setiap bulan dengan konsultan terkait untuk mengetahui langkah terbaik dari hasil monitoring media melalui portal media monitoring. Selanjutnya menggunaan Diminish Strategy (Mengurangi dampak) dan Bolstering (penguatan kembali).
