Abstract
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using the board race game on students' ability to write descriptive text at the eighth grade of MTs Azzahro. There were 44 students taken as samples and population in this study. The method used in this study is a quantitative quasi-experimental design whose data collection techniques go through three stages: pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Data collections were carried out using students' pre and post-test results. The data analysis technique was carried out with the normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis, and effect size to determine the significant value of the data. Based on the study results, it shows that the experimental class's mean post-test score of 79.50 was higher than the control class's score of 62.09. The statistical hypothesis test had a p-value of 0.000, lower than the significance level of 0.05, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1). The effect size was 0.46, indicating a modest level of effectiveness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the board race game impacts students' descriptive writing skills at the eighth of MTs Azzahro.
