Abstract

Latar Belakang Menurut WHO tahun 2020, pada 204 negara terdapat 619 juta manusia terkena Low Back Pain (LBP).

Additional Information: Background According to WHO in 2020, there were 619 million people affected by Low Back Pain (LBP) across 204 countries. The incidence of LBP in Indonesia is estimated to be between 7.6-37%. LBP often occurs in workers who sit for long durations. In Indonesia, LBP is reported to decrease work productivity. Previous studies have stated that LBP is a complaint that arises due to multifactorial reasons, one of which is caused by ergonomic factors. Static sitting for long periods and non-ergonomic positions are known to cause LBP in office workers. Therefore, researchers are interested in determining the relationship between sitting position and duration of computer use with LBP complaints in educational staff at Untirta Method This study was conducted using observational analytical methods with a cross-sectional design. Sampling was done using stratified random sampling. The research was conducted in all faculties and the rectorate of Untirta. The inclusion criteria for this study were administrative educational staff of Untirta, working using a computer or laptop, and having worked for >12 months. The exclusion criteria were administrative educational staff who were unwilling to participate in the study, those working from home, those with spinal abnormalities, pregnant individuals, and those with a history of spinal injury. Data were collected using the NMQ questionnaire and direct posture observation using the RULA method. Data were analyzed using chi-square or Fisher's exact test with a significance level of P<0.05. Results The total sample obtained was 116 samples. The proportion of LBP in administrative educational staff of Untirta was 54 individuals (64.4%), a relationship was found between sitting position during computer use and LBP (P value <0.001; OR 13.114; 95%CI 3.690-46.605) and duration of computer use with LBP (P value 0.04; OR 4.098; 95%CI 1.510-11.121). No significant relationship was found between BMI and LBP (P value 0.276; OR 0.638; 95%CI 0.284-1.436). Conclusion Sitting position and duration of computer use are associated with LBP.
