Abstract

This research is motivated by the high level of difficulty students face in understanding mathematical concepts, as well as the lack of opportunities for students to demonstrate their creativity through their ideas and thoughts in the classroom. This study aims to determine whether the ability of junior high school students to understand concepts and their creativity is better when using project-based learning compared to conventional learning. The subjects of this study were seventh-grade students at SMPN 10 Kota Serang. The samples used were classes VII B and VII D using purposive sampling technique. The method used is a quantitative method with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Data were obtained through concept understanding test instruments and questionnaire instruments. After conducting the research, the results showed that the ability of students' conceptual understanding and creativity who received project-based learning was better than students who received conventional learning.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tingginya tingkat kesulitan peserta didik dalam memahami konsep matematika, serta kurangnya kesempatan siswa untuk menunjukan kreativitasnya melalui ide dan pemikiran mereka dalam kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan kreativitas siswa SMP lebih baik saat menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dibanding menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Subyek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII di SMPN 10 Kota Serang. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelas VII B dan VII D dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan desain non equivalent pretest-posttest control group desain. Data diperoleh dengan instrument tes pemahaman konsep dan instrumen angket.. Setelah dilakukan penelitian, hasilnya menunjukan bahwa, kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan kreativitas siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran berbasis proyek lebih baik dari siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran konvensional.
