Abstract

Education has the potential and strategic role in equipping and preparing students to face the challenges of the 21st century, one of which is by trying to stimulate scientific literacy skills and integrating technology in the learning process. The aim of this development is to determine the development profile, validity and response of an e-module on students regarding atomic structure-advantages of nanotechnology, NOS (Nature of Science) orientation to foster students' scientific literacy competencies. This development research applies the Research and Development (R&D) method combined with a 4D model that is modified to become 3D (Define, Design, Development). This is because this research is development research, with the aim of finding out the feasibility and responses of students after applying the e-module, not to find out the effectiveness of using the e-module. E-Modules developed using the Google Sites platform and the Canva application. Based on the validation results by 6 validators, the e-module was assessed as "very valid" and suitable for testing because it obtained a validity value greater than Aiken's V table (0.79) with an average validation result obtained for the material aspect of 0.89 and the medium of 0.90. The results of 37 students' responses to the e-module met the "very good" criteria based on the assessment criteria from Sugiyono (2013) with an average percentage of 91%. In addition, the results of the evaluation achievement based on scientific literacy competency reached the "high" category based on the assessment criteria by Purwanto (2020) with an average achievement of scientific literacy competency of 84%. Based on these results, it shows that the Nature of Science (NOS) oriented e-module is able to foster students' scientific literacy competencies.
