Abstract

This study aims to analyze the accordance of the content of the English textbook "English in Mind" of the first grade of SMPN 1 Pagelaran with the Merdeka curriculum, which refers to learning outcomes through elements of English language skills, namely Listening-Speaking, Reading-Viewing, and Writing-Presenting. This research uses qualitative research with content analysis methods. The researcher used documentation, questionnaires, and interviews to collect data. The findings of this study concluded that the English textbook "English in Mind" includes about 41% of material relevant to the Listening-Speaking element, 31% of the material relevant to the Reading-Viewing element, and 28% of the material relevant to the Writing-Presenting element. Based on student questionnaires about the elements of learning outcomes in textbooks, there are elements of listening, speaking, reading, viewing, writing, and presenting in textbooks. Then, for interviews with teachers, the textbook "English in Mind" is in accordance with the learning outcomes in the Merdeka curriculum. However, no one learns about the Indonesian nation by reading texts, for example, knowledge and culture. It can be concluded that based on these findings, the textbook "English in Mind" is in accordance with what is suggested by the Merdeka curriculum not only as a supplementary book but also as source book.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian isi buku pelajaran bahasa Inggris "English in Mind" kelas VII SMPN 1 Pagelaran dengan kurikulum Merdeka, yang mengacu pada hasil belajar melalui elemen-elemen keterampilan berbahasa Inggris, yaitu Listening-Speaking, Reading-Viewing, dan Writing-Presenting. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Peneliti menggunakan dokumentasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara untuk mengumpulkan data. Temuan dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa buku teks bahasa Inggris "English in Mind" mencakup sekitar 41% materi yang relevan dengan elemen Listening-Speaking, 31% materi yang relevan dengan elemen Reading-Viewing, dan 28% materi yang relevan dengan elemen Writing-Presenting. Berdasarkan kuesioner siswa tentang elemen hasil belajar dalam buku teks, terdapat elemen mendengarkan, berbicara, membaca, melihat, menulis, dan mempresentasikan dalam buku teks. Kemudian, untuk wawancara dengan guru, buku teks "English in Mind" sudah sesuai dengan hasil belajar dalam kurikulum Merdeka. Namun, tidak ada yang mempelajari tentang bangsa Indonesia dengan membaca teks, misalnya pengetahuan dan budaya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa berdasarkan temuan tersebut, buku teks "English in Mind" sudah sesuai dengan apa yang disarankan oleh kurikulum Merdeka tidak hanya sebagai buku pelengkap tetapi juga sebagai buku sumber.
