Abstract

This research aims to synthesize and determine the characteristics of apple peel waster-derived carbon dots (c-dots) using microwave irradiation techniques based on UV-Vis spechtrophotometer and FTIR tests. The study began by preparing sample solutions synthesized using microwave heating, resulting in 12 samples: 9 samples subjected to microwave processing for 8, 10, and 12 minutes, and 3 samples not subjected to microwave processing. These 12 samples were then tested using a UV flashlight, with the most notable fluorescence observed in samples with a concetration of 1:15 for 8 minutes, 1:20 for 8 minutes, and 1:20 for 10 minutes. Subsequently, UV-Vis spechtrophotometer testing was conducted on 3 samples, revealing peak absorbance values within the wavelength range of 207-279 nm. Additionally, one sample was tested using FTIR to identify the functional groups presents in the sample, with the FTIR spectrum indicating the presence of C=C, N-H, and C\equivC functional groups.
