Abstract
The low critical mathematical thinking skills and self-concept at SMPN 14 Serang City as well as the use of learning models used by educators which are still less effective are the background for this research. The aim of this research is to determine the differences in mathematical critical thinking abilities and self-concept between students who received the problem based learning model assisted by scaffolding and students who received the expository learning model and to find out whether the mathematical critical thinking ability increased between students who received the problem learning model. scaffolding-based is better for students who receive an expository learning model. The quasi-experimental method (Quasi Experiment) was used in this research. This research was carried out at SMPN 14 Serang City for the 2023/2024 academic year with the research subjects being students in class VIII-D as the experimental class and class VIII-C as the control class. The instruments used consist of test instruments (description questions) and non-test instruments (self-concept questionnaire). The results of the data analysis obtained: (1) There are differences in the mathematical critical thinking abilities of students who use the problem based learning model assisted by scaffolding and students who use the expository model. (2) The increase in mathematical critical thinking skills among students who receive the problem based learning model assisted by scaffolding is better than students who receive the expository learning model. (3) There are differences in the self-concept of students who use the problem based learning model assisted by scaffolding and students who use the expository model

Additional Information: | Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan self-concept di SMPN 14 Kota Serang serta penggunaan model pembelajaran yang digunakan pendidik yang masih kurang efektif menjadi latar belakang dalam penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan self-concept antara peserta didik yang mendapatkan model problem based learning berbantuan scaffolding dengan peserta didik yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran ekspositori serta mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis antara peserta didik yang mendapatkan model problem based learning berbantuan scaffolding lebih baik dengan peserta didik yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran ekspositori. Metode eksperimen semu (Quasi Experiment) yang digunakan pada penelitian ini. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 14 Kota Serang Tahun ajar 2023/2024 dengan subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII-D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-C sebagai kelas kontrol. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan terdiri dari instrumen tes (soal uraian) dan non tes (angket self-concept). Hasil analisis data diperoleh: (1) Terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis peserta didik yang menggunakan model problem based learning berbantuan scaffolding dengan peserta didik menggunakan model ekspositori. (2) Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis antara peserta didik yang mendapatkan model problem based learning berbantuan scaffolding lebih baik daripada peserta didik yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran ekspositori. (3) Terdapat perbedaan self-concept peserta didik yang menggunakan model problem based learning berbantuan scaffolding dengan peserta didik menggunakan model ekspositori. | |||||||||
