Abstract

This study aims to determine the mathematical problem solving ability, to determine the learning process, and the school's efforts to improve the problem solving ability of Mutiara Bunda Cilegon Junior High School students on comparative material during online learning. Purposive sampling was used as the design of this study, so that 12 students of grade VII were obtained. The instruments used in the study were observation sheets, essay tests, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The analysis technique used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The results of the study were 16.7% of students who had relatively high mathematical problem solving abilities could understand problems, develop strategies, implement strategies, and re-check according to the polya stages. Meanwhile, 41.7% of students with moderate abilities were able to meet the Polya problem-solving indicators, but only on a few questions. Meanwhile, other students who had low mathematical problem-solving abilities were only able to meet several aspects of the Polya stages.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, mengetahui proses pembelajaran, serta upaya sekolah dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa SMP Mutiara Bunda Cilegon pada materi perbandingan selama pembelajaran daring. Purposive sampling digunakan sebagai desain penelitian ini, sehingga mendapatkakn 12 sorang siswa kelas VII. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu lembar observasi, tes uraian, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Untuk teknik analisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian yaitu 16,7% siswa yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang tergolong tinggi dapat memahami masalah, menyusun strategi, melaksanakan strategi, dan memeriksa kembali sesuai tahapan polya. Sedangkan 41,7% siswa dengan kemampuan sedang mampu memenuhi indikator pemecahan masalah Polya, namun hanya pada beberapa butir soal saja. Adapun siswa lainnya yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis rendah hanya mampu memenuhi beberapa aspek dari tahapan polya.
