Abstract

Talkshow programmes have become a popular form of entertainment among Indonesians, leading to intense competition for such programmes, particularly infotainment in the digital media. Researcher is interested in examining the strategic management and communication of a talkshow programme in order to maintain its existence in the digital media through the case study method. The research approach employed is a qualitative approach, adhering to the theory of Communication Process by Elmer H. Burack and Nicholas J. Mathys and the Strategic Management Process Model as developed by William F. Glueck and Lawrence R. Jauch. This research utilizes data collection techniques, including in-depth interviews with three informants, observation, and documentation. The results of the research explain that strategic management of the I-Talk program in carried out starting from analyzing the SWOT of the I-Talk programme, determining the goals and objectives of the I-Talk programme, researching the needs and interests of the community, developing programme planning, producing the I-Talk programme with quality facilities and TV-standard procedures, promoting the I-Talk programme to the public through digital and conventional media, packaging I-Talk content attractively and controversially, and conducting evaluations once a month. Furthermore, the stages of the communication process of the I-Talk programme have also proceeded in accordance with the flow of Communication Process Theory, which includes the source, coding, channel, code reading, receiver, and feedback.

Additional Information: Program talkshow menjadi salah satu bentuk hiburan yang populer di kalangan penonton Indonesia, sehingga persaingan program talkshow khususnya infotainment di media digital sangat ketat. Peneliti tertarik untuk mengkaji bagaimana manajemen strategi dan komunikasi sebuah program talkshow dalam mempertahankan eksistensinya di media digital melalui metode studi kasus. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan kualitatif dengan Teori Proses Komunikasi Elmer H. Burack dan Nicholas J. Mathys serta Model Proses Manajemen Strategi William F. Glueck dan Lawrench R. Jauch. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam dengan tiga informan, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa manajemen strategi program, I-Talk dilaksanakan dari mulai menganalisis SWOT program I-Talk, menentukan tujuan dan sasaran program I-Talk, meriset kebutuhan dan ketertarikan masyarakat, membuat perencanaan program, melaksanakan produksi program I-Talk dengan fasilitas yang berkualitas dan prosedur berstandar TV, melakukan promosi terkait program I-Talk kepada masyarakat melalui media digital dan media konvensional, mengemas konten I-Talk secara menarik dan kontroversi, serta melakukan evaluasi setiap sebulan sekali. Kemudian tahapan proses komunikasi program I-Talk juga sudah berjalan sesuai dengan alur Teori Proses Komunikasi yang meliputi sumber, pengkodean, saluran, pembacaan kode, penerima, dan umpan balik.
