Abstract

Water hyacinth leaves (Eichhornia crassipes) contain phenol, flavonoid, alkaloid and tannin compounds which have antibacterial activity which can be formulated into antiseptic liquid soap. Olive oil used in the soap mixture is an alternative to increase the level of moisture on the skin. The aim is to use weed plants to make antiseptic liquid soap which has antibacterial content with the addition of olive oil to increase moisture in the skin. The method is a laboratory experiment with antiseptic liquid soap formulated with three concentrations of water hyacinth leaf extract and olive oil Y1 (1:2), Y2 (1:1), Y3 (2:1). Evaluation of antiseptic soap has an average foam height of 80,07-89,78 mm and a pH range of 4,96-6,33 which is in accordance with SNI 2588:2017 standards, an average viscosity value of 629,9-1610,0, does not cause irritation, and can moisturize the skin, and has activity against E.coli and S.aureus with strong inhibitory power. In conclusion, water hyacinth leaf extract and olive oil can be an alternative for using weeds to make antiseptic soap.
