Abstract

Freestyle swimming is a swimming movement that has the characteristics of movements that are commonly done in everyday life and is the most basic swimming movement. Thus, freestyle swimming is the most efficient swimming movement when compared with other movements because the technique of this swimming movement is a movement that we do every day, and the body can maximally direct all the forces strongly continuously with very little resistance compared to other swimming styles. The research aim is to determine the difference in the effect of Weight Training and Plyometric training on increasing freestyle swimming speed. This research is experimental research that uses a two group pretest-post- test research design. The samples obtained in this study were 20 athletes. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out using literature review, observation, tests, and analysis. The test is carried out by swimming freestyle as far as 50 meters as fast as possible. The magnitude of the influence of weight training on improving freestyle swimming is 5%, while for plyometrics it is 1%, with a value of t = 5.786 > t table = 2.100 for weight training and t = 4.476 > t table = 2.100 for plyometric. Based on these results, it can be concluded that weight training has a better percentage increase than plyometrics.

Additional Information: Renang gaya bebas merupakan gerakan renang yang memiliki karakter gerakan yang sudah lazim dilakukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan merupakan gerakan renang yang paling mendasar. Demikian bahwa renang gaya bebas merupakan gerakan renang yang paling efisien jika di bandingkan dengan gerakan lainnya karena teknik dari gerakan renang ini merupakan gerakan yang kita lakukan sehari-hari, dan badan dapat dengan maksimal mengarahkan seluruh kekuatan dengan kuat secara terus menerus dengan hambatan yang sangat sedikit dibandingkan dengan gaya renang yang lain. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh latihan Weight Training dan Plyometric terhadap peningkatan kecepatan renang gaya bebas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang menggunakan desain penelitian two group pretest-posttest. Sampel yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 20 atlet. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan telaah pustaka, observasi, tes, dan analisis. Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara berenang gaya bebas sejauh 50 meter dengan waktu secepat- cepatnya. Besarnya pengaruh latihan weight training terhadap peningkatan renang gaya bebas yaitu sebesar 5%, sedangkan untuk plyometric yaitu sebesar 1%, dengan nilai t hitung = 5,786 > t tabel = 2,100 untuk weight tarining dan t hitung = 4,476 > t tabel = 2,100 untuk plyometric. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa weight tarining memiliki persentase peningkatan yang lebih baik dibandingkan plyometric.
