Abstract

Illegal deforestation or deforestation that occurs in Indonesia is not balanced by the replanting of these forests. One effort that can be made is by making food products in the form of particle board by referring to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 03-2105-2006. In this research, the particle board will be made using a combination of bamboo and sengon wood which is then strengthened using steel wool. The use of steel wool will adjust the previously determined ratio, namely 0%, 0.5%, 1%. The tests that will be carried out in this research are density testing, thickness expansion, water absorption capacity, hardness and flexibility. Based on several test results that have been carried out on all variations of particle board, namely the density test value obtained by S1 particle board is an average of 0.66 g/cm3, S2 particle board is 0.68 g/cm3, and S3 particle board is 0 .70g/cm3. The thickness expansion test value obtained for S1 particle board was 1.51%, then S2 particle board was 1.34% and S3 particle board was 0.79%. The air absorption test value obtained by S1 particle board was 53.97%, S2 particle board was 52.97%, and S3 particle board was 52.67%. The lowest hardness value is 43.17 shore D, then S2 particle board is 45.50 shore D, and S3 particle board is 46.00 shore D. The flexibility test value for S1 particle board is 77,27 kgf/cm2, then for board S2 particles is 40,60 kgf/cm2, and for S3 particle board it is 62,70 kgf/cm2.

Additional Information: Penggundulan hutan secara liar atau deforestasi yang terjadi di Indonesia tidak diimbangi dengan adanya penanaman kembali hutan-hutan tersebut. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan membuat produk olahan berupa papan partikel dengan mengacu pada Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) 03-2105-2006. Pada penelitian ini, pembuatan papan partikel akan menggunakan perpaduan bambu apus dan kayu sengon yang kemudian diperkuat menggunakan steel wool. Adapun penggunaan steel wool akan menyesuaikan perbandingan yang telah ditentukan sebelumnya yaitu 0%, 0,5%, 1%. Pengujian yang akan dilakukan pada penelitian ini yaitu pengujian kerapatan, pengembangan tebal, daya serap air, kekerasan, dan kelenturan. Berdasarkan beberapa hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan pada seluruh variasi papan partikel yaitu nilai pengujian densitas diperoleh papan partikel S1 yaitu dengan rata-rata sebesar 0,66 g/cm3, papan partikel S2 yaitu 0,68 g/cm3, dan papan partikel S3 yaitu 0,70g/cm3. Nilai pengujian pengembangan tebal diperoleh papan partikel S1 yaitu sebesar 1,51%, lalu papan partikel S2 sebesar 1,34% dan papan partikel S3 sebesar 0,79%. nilai pengujian daya serap air diperoleh papan partikel S1 yaitu 53,97%, papan partikel S2 yaitu 52,97%, dan papan partikel S3 yaitu 52,67%. nilai kekerasan terendah yaitu sebesar 43,17 shore D, lalu papan partikel S2 yaitu 45,50 shore D, dan papan partikel S3 yaitu 46,00 shore D.
