Abstract

This study aims to synthesize Carbon Dots from bitter melon peel extract with three mass concentration variations, namely 5 g, 10 g and 10 g. Each bitter melon peel was dissolved with a mass ratio of bitter melon peel and distilled water 1:5 (10 g bitter melon peel and 50 ml distilled water), 1:10 (10 g bitter melon peel and 100 ml distilled water) and 1:15 (5 g bitter melon peel and 75 ml distilled water). Then the samples were synthesized by bottom-up method, namely microwave irradiation technique. C-dots with the best luminescence will be analyzed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer and FTIR. The results of UV-Vis spectrophotometer analysis with a mass concentration of 5 g bitter melon peel and 75 ml of distilled water with a microwave time variation of 8 minutes had a peak wavelength of 198 nm with an absorbance value of 3.245, for 5 g bitter melon peel and 75 ml of distilled water with a microwave time variation of 15 minutes had a peak wavelength of 206 nm with an absorbance value of 3.311, and for 10 g bitter melon peel and 100 ml of distilled water with a microwave time variation of 8 minutes had a peak wavelength of 207 nm with an absorbance value of 2.012. The results of FTIR analysis with a mass concentration of 5 g bitter melon peel and 75 ml of distilled water with a microwave time variation of 8 minutes show the characteristics of the absorption peak there is an O-H bond at a wave number of 3299.84 cm-1 and there is a C=C bond with a hollow at a wave number of 1635.34 cm-1, for 5 g bitter melon peel and 75 ml of distilled water with a microwave time variation of 15 minutes shows the characteristics of the absorption peak there is an O-H bond at a wave number of 3,300.00 cm-1 and there is a C=C bond with a hollow at a wave number of 1,635.85 cm-1.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis Carbon Dots dari ekstrak kulit pare dengan tiga variasi konsentrasi massa. Masing-masing kulit pare tersebut dilarutkan dengan perbandingan massa kulit pare dan aquades 1:5 (10 gr kulit pare dan 50 ml aquades), 1:10 (10 gr kulit pare dan 100 ml aquades) dan 1:15 (5 gr kulit pare dan 75 ml aquades). Hasil analisis spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan konsentrasi massa 5 gr kulit pare dan 75 ml aquades dengan variasi waktu microwave 8 menit memiliki puncak panjang gelombang 198 nm dengan nilai absorbansi 3,245, untuk 5 gr kulit pare dan 75 ml aquades dengan variasi waktu microwave 15 menit memiliki puncak panjang gelombang 206 nm dengan nilai absorbansi 3,311, dan untuk 10 gr kulit pare dan 100 ml aquades dengan variasi waktu microwave 8 menit memiliki puncak panjang gelombang 207 nm dengan nilai absorbansi 2,012. Hasil analisis FTIR dengan konsentrasi massa 5 gr kulit pare dan 75 ml aquades dengan variasi waktu microwave 8 menit menunjukkan karakteristik puncak serapan terdapat ikatan O-H pada bilangan gelombang 3299,84 cm-1 dan terdapat ikatan C=C dengan cekungan pada bilangan gelombang 1635,34 cm-1, untuk 5 gr kulit pare dan 75 ml aquades dengan variasi waktu microwave 15 menit menunjukkan karakteristik puncak serapan terdapat ikatan O-H pada bilangan gelombang 3.300,00 cm-1 dan terdapat ikatan C=C dengan cekungan pada bilangan gelombang 1.635,85 cm-1.
