Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of speedplay and cross country training methods on increasing VO2Max for boxing athletes. The study used a quantitative approach experimental method with speedplay and cross country treatment, the study was conducted for 16 meetings with a frequency of 4 times a week. The population in this study amounted to 25 people with a sample of 20 people, the sampling technique used purposive sampling.Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that training using the speedplay and cross country methods has a significant effect on VO2Max levels. Training using the speedplay method has a greater influence on VO2Max level, this can be seen from the results of the calculation of the percentage increase obtained. The results showed that the percentage increase in VO2Max for boxing athletes using the speedplay training method was 0.1550% greater than the cross country training method with a percentage increase in VO2max for boxing athletes of 0,.668%. The conclusion of this study is that training with the speedplay method is more effective than crosscountry training on the VO2Max level of boxing athletes.
