Abstract
Problem solving is a very important ability to have in learning activities, especially mathematics learning. Problem-solving ability is also closely related to cognitive load. One type of cognitive load is extrinsic cognitive load. It is very important to minimize cognitive load so that students can understand concepts well so they can solve problems effectively. This research aims to find out whether project-based learning with the faded-example technique has an effect on students' problem-solving abilities and extrinsic cognitive load. The research method used is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. The design used is a non-equivalent pretest posttest control group design. Data collection was carried out using test sheets and questionnaires. The research subjects were students VIII at SMPN 1 Karangtanjung. After conducting the research, it can be concluded that there is an influence of project-based learning with the faded-example technique on students' problem-solving abilities and extrinsic cognitive load.

Additional Information: | Pemecahan masalah merupakan kemampuan yang sangat penting dimiliki dalam kegiatan pembelajaran khususnya pembelajaran matematika. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah pun sangat terkait dengan beban kognitif. Salah satu jenis beban kognitif yaitu beban kognitif ekstrinsik. Beban kognitif sangat penting untuk diminimalisir agar siswa dapat memahami konsep dengan baik sehingga dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan dengan baik pula. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah project-based learning dengan teknik faded-example berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan beban kognitif ekstrinsik siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan kuasi eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan yaitu non equivalent pretest posttest control group desain. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan lembar tes dan angket. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa VIII di SMPN 1 Karangtanjung. Setelah dilakukan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif project-based learning dengan teknik faded-example terhadap kemampuan pemechan masalah dan beban kognitif ekstrinsik siswa. | |||||||||
