Abstract
This research aims to determine the increase in critical thinking skills in the mathematics lesson content of students in class IV elementary schools who apply the Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. This research was conducted at Drangong 1 State Elementary School, Serang City. The sampling technique in this research used nonprobability sampling, namely a purposive sampling technique. This research used two experimental classes, namely class IV A as experimental class 1 which was given the RME approach and class IV B as experimental class 2 was given an expository approach. The research instrument used was a test instrument in the form of 10 descriptive questions. The conclusion of this research is that the results of the abilities and improvements in critical thinking of students who were given a Realistic Mathematics Education approach were better than the critical thinking abilities of students who were given an expository approach.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada muatan pelajaran matematika peserta didik di kelas IV Sekolah Dasar yang menerapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain kelompok kontrol Non-Equivalen. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Sekolah Dasar Negeri Drangong 1 Kota Serang. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan nonprobability sampling, yaitu teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas eksperimen yaitu kelas IV A sebagai kelas eksperimen 1 yang diberi pendekatan RME dan kelas IV B sebagai kelas eksperimen 2 diberi pendekatan ekspositori. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu instrumen tes berupa 10 soal uraian. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah hasil pada kemampuan dan peningkatan dalam hal berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diberi pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education lebih baik daripada kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diberi pendekatan ekspositori. | |||||||||
