Abstract

Tujuan utama penelitian ini yaitu untuk memenuhi kebutuhan buku teks sebagai sumber pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa ekonomi bisnis. Penelitian pengembangan buku teks ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada kekurangan yang terdapat pada materi pembelajaran yang ada saat ini, seperti; Pertama, topik pembelajaran tidak relevan dengan program studi ekonomi bisnis; Kedua materi pembelajaran masih bersifat artifisial yang didesain khusus untuk pembelajaran bahasa Inggris; Ketiga, metode pembelajaran yang kurang bervariatif dan cenderung berpusat pada dosen (teacher-centered learning). Sejalan dengan karakteristik buku teks yang digunakan saat ini, ada beberapa praktik pembelajaran yang perlu dikembangkan, yaitu motivasi mahasiswa yang masih rendah untuk berlatih keterampilan berbahasa Inggris; teknik pembelajaran yang kurang menarik sehingga menghambat mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan kompetensinya secara maksimal. Pertimbangan tersebut yang digunakan peneliti untuk mengembangkan buku teks berbasis pembelajaran kontekstual. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (Borg dan Gall, 2003) dengan empat tahapan penelitian diantaranya; tahap eksplorasi, pengembangan, pengujian, dan deseminasi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner, interview, dan test. Validasi buku teks dilakukan oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan praktisi pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian adalah sebegai berikut: (1) menghasilkan buku teks bahasa Inggris berbasis pembelajaran kontekstual untuk mahasiswa ekonomi bisnis. Produk yang dikembangkan layak digunakan berdasarkan validasi ahli materi dengan hasil 4,8 (sangat baik), ahli media dengan hasil 4,47 (sangat baik), dan validasi praktisi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan hasil 3,9 (baik). (2) berdasarkan hasil uji coba produk menunjukkan perbedaan siginifikan dengan nilai Sig (2-tailed) .000 < 0,05 artinya hasil pembelajaran kelas eksperimen dengan buku teks CTL lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol dengan materi lepas. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari hasil pretes dan postes dimana peningkatan skor postes kelas eksperimen sebeser 18,63% dengan gain score 0,75, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 12% dengan gain score 0,36.

Additional Information:	The main objective of this research is to meet the needs of textbooks as the learning materials that are developed in accordance with the learning context of Economics and Business Students. Research on the development of this textbook was carried out based on the weaknesses found in the currently available learning materials, such as; first, the learning topic is not relevant to the business economics study program; secondly, the learning materials are still artificial, designed specifically for learning English; third, learning methods are less varied and tend to be teacher-centered learning. In line with the characteristics of textbooks currently used, there are several learning practices that need to be developed, namely student motivation is still low to practice English language skills; learning techniques that are less interesting, thus preventing students from developing their competencies. These considerations are used by researchers to develop textbooks based on contextual teaching learning. The research method used is Research and Development (Borg and Gall, 2003) with four research stages including; exploration, development, testing and dissemination stages. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, interviews and tests. Textbook validation is carried out by material experts, media experts and learning practitioners. The results of the research are as follows: (1) produce an English textbook based on contextual teaching learning for business economics students. The product developed is suitable for use based on validation from material experts with a result of 4.8 (very good), media experts with a result of 4.47 (very good), and validation from English language learning practitioners with a result of 3.9 (good). (2) based on the results of the product test, it shows a significant difference with a Sig value (2-tailed) .000 < 0.05, meaning that the learning outcomes of the experimental class with CTL textbooks are higher than the control class with conventional materials. This is shown from the pretest and posttest results where the increase in the posttest score for the experimental class was 18.63% with a gain score of 0.75, while the control class was 12% with a gain score of 0.36. .
