Abstract
This research wants to know the representation of social inequality found infilmParasite using John Fiske's semiotic analysis method. Semiotics John Fiskeconsidered that there are three levels of analysis in semiotics, namely: reality, representation, and ideology. Each level had its own analysis domain. Thesemiotic analysis method is included in text-based qualitative research. Theparadigm used is constructivist. This paradigm saw social reality was the result of a social construction that did not stand alone. The research of this study camefrom social constructions that appeared in films through signs then be compiledand explained by intersubjectivity of researcher. The results of this researchare: in the analysis of reality, social inequality can be seen in many aspects. Theseaspects are divided in imitation and non-imitation. The aspects of imitationinclude naming, clothing styles, language used, body gestures. The aspects of non-imitation are ownership, perception, and body odor. In this filmthere arealso eight of ten indicators of social inequality categorized by INFID(International NGO Forum On Indonesian Development). In the analysis of representation, social inequality is shown by the concept of space, boundaries andpositions to represent anyone from dif erent social classes. While in the analysisof ideology is about social class

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui representasi ketimpangan sosial yang terdapat pada film Parasite. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis semiotika John Fiske. Semiotika John Fiske menilai bahwa ada tiga level analisis dalam semiotika, yaitu: realitas, representasi, dan ideologi. Setiap level memiliki domain analisisnya masing-masing. Metode analisis semiotika masuk pada penelitian kualitatif berbasis teks. Adapun paradigma yang dipakai adalah konstruktivis. Paradigma ini memandang bahwa realitas sosial merupakan hasil dari konstruksi sosial yang tidak berdiri sendiri. Penelitian ini berasal dari konstruksi sosial yang muncul pada film melalui tanda-tanda untuk kemudian disusun dan dijelaskan melalui intersubjektifitas peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam analisis realitas ketimpangan sosial terlihat dalam banyak aspek. Aspek tersebut terbagi menjadi dapat diimitasi dan tidak bisa diimitasi. Adapun aspek - aspek yang dapat diimitasi meliputi penamaan, gaya pakaian, bahasa, gestur. Adapun aspek yang tidak dapat diimitasi kepemilikan, persepsi, dan juga bau badan. Dalam film ini juga terdapat delapan dari sepuluh indikator ketimpangan sosial yang dikatagorikan oleh INFID (International NGO Forum On Indonesian Development). Dalam analisis representasi, ketimpangan sosial diperlihatkan dengan adanya konsep ruang, batas, serta posisi untuk mewakili setiap orang dari kelas sosiasl berbeda. Sedangkan dalam analisis ideologi adalah mengenai kelas sosial. | |||||||||
