Abstract

This research aimed to determine students participation and understanding of students through the TPS combined with PBL learning model in SMAN 5 Cilegon on the cell concept. The method used was descriptive method using the One Group Pretest – Posttest Design research. The population in this study were all students of class XI with the research sample assesed by XI IPA 2 with 37 students at SMAN 5 Cilegon for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The instruments used were student participation observation sheets and student participation questionnaires to determine student participation, while student understanding were pretest and posttest. Based on the results of the study, the level of student participation was 88.7% with a very good category. The student understanding have increasing significantly with an average value that has experienced a significantly change from 60.3 to 89.8 and increasing significantly with gain index of 0,72. It can be concluded that the TPS learning model combined with PBL in the cell concept in class XI IPA 2 SMAN Negeri 5 Cilegon, it can be said that student participation and understanding have a positive impact especially on the learning process.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat partisipasi dan pemahaman siswa melalui model pembelajaran TPS dipadu PBL di SMAN 5 Kota Cilegon pada konsep sel. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif yang menggunakan desain penelitian One Group Pretest – Posttest Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI dengan sampel penelitian yaitu kelas XI IPA 2 berjumlah 37 orang di SMAN 5 Kota Cilegon tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi partisipasi siswa dan angket partisipasi siswa untuk mengetahui partisipasi siswa, sedangkan untuk mengetahui pemahaman siswa dengan soal pretest dan posttet. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, tingkat partisipasi siswa termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik dengan persentase sebesar 88,7%, sedangkan pemahaman siswa mengalami peningkatan dengan nilai rata – rata yang mengalami perubahan yang signifikan yaitu dari 60,3 menjadi 89,8% dan indeks gain sebesar 0,72 dengan kategori tinggi. Dengan demikian melalui model pembelajaran TPS dipadu PBL dalam konsep sel dikelas XI IPA 2 SMAN Negeri 5 Kota Cilegon dapat dikatakan bahwa partisipasi dan pemahaman siswa memberikan dampak positif dalam proses pembelajaran.
