Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students' creative thinking abilities in understanding mathematics, but in fact, creative thinking skills in Indonesia are still relatively low. So it is necessary to know the right learning strategy in improving students' creative thinking skills. Learning with a Problem-Based Learning approach using Psychological Tools is believed to be able to improve students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. This research was carried out at SMPIT Al-Izzah City of Serang for the 2022/2023 school year. This study aims to determine whether the mathematical creative thinking skills of students who study with the Problem-Based Learning approach using Psychological Tools are better than students who learn with the Problem-Based Learning approach both in terms of initial mathematical abilities or not and to see whether the increase in the creative thinking of students who learn with the Problem-Based Learning approach using Psychological Tools is better than students who learn with the Problem-Based Learning approach whether seen from their initial mathematical ability or not. The method used in this study is a combination of research by combining quantitative and qualitative methods in an unbalanced manner with a concurrent embedded design. The research instruments consisted of an initial mathematical ability test, a creative thinking ability test, and an interview guide. The results showed that the ability to think creatively mathematically and improve the creative thinking skills of students who studied with the Problem-Based Learning approach using Psychological Tools was better than students who studied with the Problem-Based Learning approach.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam pemahaman matematika, namun kenyataanya kemampuan berpikir kreatif di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Sehingga perlu diketahui strategi belajar yang tepat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning menggunakan Psychological Tools diyakini mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPIT Al-Izzah Kota Serang tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning menggunakan Psychological Tools lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning baik dilihat dari kemampuan awal matematis ataupun tidak serta untuk melihat apakah peningkatan berpikir kreatif siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning menggunakan Psychological Tools lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning baik dilihat dari kemampuan awal matematis ataupun tidak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kombinasi dengan menggabungkan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif secara tidak seimbang dengan desain concurrent embedded design.Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes kemampuan awal matematis, tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning menggunakan Psychological Tools lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning
