Abstract
Corn cob is one of the most widely lignocellulosic wastes in Indonesia, especially in Banten Province. Corn cob is agricultural lignosellulose waste containing (40-60%) cellulose, (20-30%) hemicellulose and (15-30%) lignin. To be able use the cellulose containing in corn cobs optimally, it is necessary to separate the lignin content from cellulose in corn cob. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of FeCl3 dan AL2O3 on corncob delignification using NaOH by ultrasound assisted. In the previous research, the result showed that lignin content in cellulose using NaOH by ultrasound assisted at 60 0C and 40 KHz of ultrasonic frequency was 40%. Hence, in the main reseach, the delignification was conducted at 60 0C and 40 KHz of ultrasonic frequency with the solven addition varied FeCl3 : NaOH, AL2O3 : NaOH, AL2O3 : FeCl3 dan FeCl3 : AL2O3 was 0:1 ; 1:1 and 2:1. The result was then measured by Chesson method. It gave the smallest lignin content in cellulose about 12% at NaOH : AL2O3 ratio 1:2.
