Abstract

The sophistication of social media has now made social media one of the main sources of information for the public, including information about religion. Many accounts and communities that teach about religion have sprung up on social media which can cause people to use the media as a source of religious knowledge. One of them is the Muslimah Community of UIN Banten (KMUB) which was established in 2017 and operates virtually. This community was founded because they are concerned about the moral damage of the younger generation. This study aims to determine the mediatization process, the role of the community, and the interactions of followers and members of this community. This research uses a netographic study method by conducting interviews, observations, and documentation studies. From the results of the study it was found that there was a mediatization process in the Muslimah Community of UIN Banten, where this community was transformed as an online knowledge assembly for members so that the operationalization of the community became dependent on social media because community activities could only be carried out via WhatsApp or Instagram media. The interaction of members of the MUB Community has also changed due to mediation. The interactions that are carried out are wider and transcend space and time because members are scattered in many places but can still communicate in virtual space.

Additional Information: Kecanggihan media sosial kini telah membuat media sosial menjadi salah satu sumber utama informasi bagi masyarakat, termasuk informasi mengenai agama. Banyak akun-akun dan komunitas yang mengajarkan tentang agama bermunculan di media sosial yang dapat menyebabkan orang-orang semakin menjadikan media sebagai sumber pengetahuan agama. Salah satunya adalah Komunitas Muslimah UIN Banten (KMUB) yang berdiri sejak tahun 2017 dan beroperasi secara virtual. Komunitas ini berdiri karena merasa prihatin terhadap rusaknya akhlak generasi muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses mediatisasi, peran komunitas, serta interaksi pengikut dan anggota komunitas ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi netografi dengan melakukan wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa terjadi proses mediatisasi pada Komunitas Muslimah UIN Banten, di mana komunitas ini menjelma sebagai majelis ilmu online untuk para anggota sehingga operasionalisasi komunitas menjadi ketergantungan terhadap media sosial karena kegiatan komunitas hanya dapat dilakukan melalui media WhatsApp atau Instagram. Interaksi anggota Komunitas MUB juga mengalami perubahan akibat mediatisasi. Interaksi yang dilakukan semakin luas serta melampaui ruang dan waktu karena anggota tersebar di banyak daerah namun tetap bisa berkomunikasi di ruang virtual.
