Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of competence and work motivation in improving the performance of extension workers through organizational commitment as an mediation variable. This study uses a quantitative and descriptive approach with a causal approach. The object of this research is the Field Cooperative Extension Officer of the Banten Province Cooperatives and SMEs Office. The population in this study was 50 people, while the sampling used a survey technique or saturated sample, which means that the entire population was sampled. The data collection uses a questionnaire technique which is directly distributed to respondents. Questionnaire answers were measured with an interval scale of 1-10. The data were analyzed using the help of the SmartPLS software version 3.0. The results of this study indicate that competence directly has a significant impact on the performance of extension workers but does not have a significant impact on organizational commitment. Furthermore, work motivation has a significant effect on the performance of the extension workers and organizational commitment, while organizational commitment has a significant impact on the performance of the extension workers. On the other hand, organizational commitment can mediate between work motivation and performance of extension workers but cannot mediate on the competence and performance of extension workers.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi kerja dalam meningkatkan kinerja tenaga penyuluh melalui komitmen organisasi sebagai variabel mediasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan deskriptif, dengan pendekatan kausalitas. Objek penelitian ini adalah Petugas Penyuluh Koperasi Lapangan pada Dinas Koperasi Usaha Kecil dan Menengah Provinsi Banten. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu sebanyak 50 orang, sedangkan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik survey atau sampel jenuh yang artinya seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel. Adapun pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik kuesioner yang secara langsung disebarkan kepada responden. Jawaban kuesioner diukur dengan skala interval 1-10. Data dianalisis menggunakan bantuan softrware SmartPLS versi 3.0. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa kompetensi secara langsung berdampak secara signifikan dalam mempengaruhi kinerja tenaga penyuluh, namun tidak berdampak signifikan terhadap komitmen organisasi. Selanjutnya motivasi kerja memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja tenaga penyuluh dan komitmen organisasi, sedangkan komitmen organisasi berdampak secara signifikan dalam mempengaruhi kinerja tenaga penyuluh. Disisi lain, komitmen organisasi dapat menjadi pemediasi antara motivasi kerja dan kinerja tenaga penyuluh, namun tidak dapat menjadi pemediasi pada kompetensi dan kinerja tenaga penyuluh. | |||||||||
