Abstract
Melon is an annual fruit plant originating from the border between West Asia and Europe and Africa. Melon is a plant that people like because it tastes sweet and contains vitamins and minerals. The demand for melons increases every year, but the melon seeds used are imported seeds, making it less efficient in melon cultivation. The solution to reduce melon production costs by using local seeds is to use plant breeding methods in assembling new hybrid varieties with the stages of yield test, multilocation test, evaluation test and others. The purpose of this study was to determine the performance of the vegetative and generative phases of four populations of superior melon strains that were observed. The research was conducted in December 2021-February 2022 at PT. Benih Sumber Andalan (BSA) Dramaga, Bogor. The research method used completely randomize design with check for comparison consisted of 5 treatments, namely 4 superior melons BSA-A, BSA-D, BSA-Dk, and BSA-F and 1 comparison variety, F1 Alisha. Based on the results of descriptive analysis, principal component analysis, and cluster analysis, the results obtained were uniformity in each superior melon line, especially in the BSA-D and BSA-Dk lines which were already uniform in several observed characters. There was diversity between each superior melon strain. Based on the uniformity, BSA-D and BSA-Dk lines can be suggested as an assembly of high-yielding varieties. Additional Information: | Melon adalah tanaman buah tahunan yang berasal dari perbatasan antara Asia Barat dan Eropa dan Afrika. Melon merupakan tanaman yang disukai masyarakat karena rasanya yang manis dan mengandung vitamin dan mineral. Permintaan melon meningkat setiap tahun, tetapi benih melon yang digunakan adalah benih impor sehingga kurang efisien dalam melon penanaman. Solusi untuk menekan biaya produksi melon dengan menggunakan benih lokal adalah menggunakan metode pemuliaan tanaman dalam perakitan varietas hibrida baru dengan tahapan-tahapan uji hasil, uji multilokasi, uji evaluasi dan lain-lain. Tujuan dari ini Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performans fase vegetatif dan generatif empat populasi galur melon unggul yang diamati. Penelitian itu dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2021-Februari 2022 di PT. Benih Sumber Andalan (BSA) Dramaga, Bogor. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan cek pembanding terdiri dari 5 perlakuan yaitu 4 buah melon unggul BSA-A, BSA-D, BSA-Dk, dan BSA-F serta 1 varietas pembanding, F1 Alisha. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif, analisis komponen utama, dan analisis klaster didapatkan hasil keseragaman pada setiap galur melon unggul, terutama di jalur BSA-D dan BSA-Dk yang sudah seragam di beberapa lini karakter yang diamati. Terdapat keragaman di antara masing-masing galur melon unggul. Berdasarkan keseragaman, garis BSA-D dan BSA-Dk dapat disarankan sebagai perakitan varietas unggul.
