Abstract
Tiktok is one of the social media that is being loved by today's generation, namely generation Z. In Tiktok there are social phenomena in the form of the phenomenon of commodification of women's bodies which is content related to the body. Gen Z with its inherent characteristics has the potential to be an actor in this phenomenon. The student of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta) become part of gen Z based on age. Therefore, this study aims to examine the female students of Untirta belonging to the Z gene related to the commodification phenomenon in Tiktok. The method used is qualitative with a case study approach using data analysis Miles & Huberman techniques with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The researcher concluded that Untirta’s students as Z generation are doing a body commodification by producing contents that associated with body in Tiktok. They gain followers in other social media platforms, livestreaming, agency, and endorsement. Despite those benefits, they are perceived as a bad figure by society who against their doing. This body commodification among Untirta’s students can be comprehended from Berger and Luckmann theory perspective as a social construction which build their identity to be Tiktok celebrities.

Additional Information: | Tiktok adalah salah satu media sosial yang sedang digandrungi oleh generasi masa kini yakni generasi Z. Di Tiktok terdapat gejala sosial berupa fenomena komodifikasi tubuh perempuan berupa konten-konten yang berkenaan dengan tubuh. Gen Z dengan karakteristiknya yang melekat secara potensial menjadi aktor dalam fenomena tersebut. Mahasiswi Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa menjadi bagian dari gen Z berdasarkan usia. Fokus penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji mahasiswi Untirta yang termasuk gen Z berkaitan dengan fenomena komodifikasi di Tiktok. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Menggunakan Teknik analisis data interaktif Miles & Huberman dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian/kesimpulan yang diperoleh yaitu mahasiswi Untirta sebagai gen Z melakukan praktik komodifikasi tubuh berupa konten berkenaan dengan tubuh di Tiktok. Mereka mendapatkan keuntungan berupa followers media sosial lain, livestreaming, agensi/manajemen, dan endorsement. Mereka mendapatkan stereotipe buruk dari masyarakat yang kontra sebagai konsekuensinya. Terjadinya komodifikasi tubuh di kalangan mahasiswi Untirta dari perspektif teori Berger dan Luckmann merupakan konstruksi sosial yang membentuk identitas mereka menjadi selebritas Tiktok. | |||||||||
