Abstract

Since it was announced that two Indonesian citizens were infected with the covid- 19 virus in March 2020, news about covid-19 has become the most frequently reported topic on various mass media platforms. Seeing this situation and the many news that emerged about covid-19, researchers were interested in examining the objectivity of news about covid-19 in online media. Banten Province is the province that has the highest transmission rate of covid-19. So that online media in Banten Province is the online media that is most aggressively reporting on the development of covid-19 in the region. The selected online media are KabarBanten.com and BantenNews.co.id. This study uses quantitative methods with news objectivity model from Westersthal. In this concept, the objectivity of news can be seen from two aspects, namely factuality and impartiality. The results of this study are on the aspect of factuality, namely truth and relevance. The results of each category in this aspect are included in the objective category. While the impartiality aspect is divided into two categories, namely balance and neutrality which is not included in the objective category because it does not meet the objectivity element in a news report.
