Pembimbing I: Dr. Rangga Galura Gumelar, Dipl. Ing., M.Si., dan Pembimbing II: Ronny Yudhi Septa P, S.I.Kom., M.Si. Body shaming merupakan sebuah problematika yang kerap kali terjadi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Dalam upaya untuk menyampaikan problematika tersebut kepada masyarakat, para seniman mempunyai metode dan caranya tersendiri, salah satunya melalui film atau drama.Body shaming pun tak jarang dijumpai dalam film atau drama dengan tujuan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat akan problematika tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk body shaming dalam drama Korea True Beauty menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yaitu denotasi, lima sistem kode analisis semiotikmeliputi: (1) kode hermeneutik, (2) kode semik, (3) kode simbolik, (4) kode proairetik, (5) kode gnomik, mitos, serta representasibody shaming yang dikonstruksi dalam sebuah drama televisi untukmenggambarkan suatu realitas sosial. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes dengan pendekatan kualitatif dalam paradigma konstruktivisme.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa drama Korea True Beauty menggambarkan body shaming dengan menggunakan bentuk penanda yaitu audio serta visual, lalu membaginya ke dalam pemaknaan denotasi dan lima sistem kode analisis semiotik Roland Barthes sehingga memunculkan bentuk representasi body shaming dalam tayangan drama ini. Representasi tindakan body shaming yang dimunculkan dalam drama ini terbagi menjadi dua bentuk yaitu body shamingverbal dan body shamingnonverbal. Body shaming verbal yang digambarkan ditandai dengan ucapan penghinaan fisik secara langsung dan tak langsung, sementara body shaming nonverbal yang digambarkan ditandai dengan gerakan tubuh serta ekspresi dari pelaku body shaming yang menunjukkan tindakan kekerasan dan ketidaktertarikan kepada korban body shaming. Melalui representasi tersebut, body shamingyang ditampilkan dalam drama True Beauty cukup relevan dalam menggambarkan realitas sosial akan konstruksi standar kecantikan yang kemudian menciptakan perilaku body shaming dalam masyarakat Korea Selatan. In an effort to convey these problems to the public, every artist has their own methods, one of which is through films or dramas. Body shaming are not uncommon in films or dramas with the aim of educating the public about these problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of body shaming in the Korean drama True Beauty using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, namely denotation, five semiotic analysis codesystems including: (1) hermeneuticcode, (2) semiticcode, (3) symbolic code, (4) proaireticcode, (5) gnomiccodeand mythical analysis code, as well as representations of body shaming constructed in a television drama to describe a social reality. The method used in this research is the semiotic analysis method of Roland Barthes with a qualitative approach in the constructivism paradigm. The results showed that the Korean drama True Beauty describes body shaming by using the form of markers, namely audio and visual, then divides it into denotative and five systems of Roland Barthes semiotic analysis code so that it creates a form of representation of body shaming in this drama. Representation of body shaming that appear in this drama is divided into two forms, namely verbal and nonverbal body shaming. Verbal body shaming that is described is characterized by direct and indirect physical insults, while nonverbal body shaming that is described is characterized by body movements and expressions from body shaming that show acts of violence and disinterest towards the victim of body shaming. Through this representation, the body shaming shown in the drama True Beauty is quite relevant in describing the social reality of the construction of beauty standards which then creates body shaming in South Korean society.
