Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pendekatan Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis karakter dan budaya lokal terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis siswa SMP di Kabupaten Lebak. Rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematis dikarenakan siswa cenderung pasif dan kurang mengeksplorasi selama proses pembelajaran, akibatnya siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami dan mengerjakan soal. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen (Quasi Eksperimental) dan jenis desain pretest and posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 1 Bojongmanik dengan sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu siswa kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan teknik non probability sampling jenis purposive sampling. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan Soal uraian dan angket. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji T independent sample t-test, hasil penelitian memberi kesimpulan bahwa pendekatan Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbasis karakter dan budaya lokal memiliki pengaruh dan meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa.

Additional Information: | This study aims to measure the effectiveness of the character based and local culture based Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach on the mathematical literacy skills of junior high school students in Lebak District. The low mathematical literacy ability because students tend to be passive and less explore during the learning process, consequently students have difficulty in understanding and working on problem. Quasy experiment was used as a design of this study with pretest and posttest kontrol group design. The research population is all class VII in SMPN 1 Bojongmanik, consist of two classes, class VII B as an experimental class and class VII C as an control class. The sample was taken by using non probability sampling type purposive sampling. Data is taken by using essay question and questionnaire. Hypothesis testing is done by using the t test independent sample t-test, the results of the study conclude if Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach based on character and lokal culture have influence and improve students mathematical literacy skills.
