Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi mind mapping strategi dalam menulis teks deskriptif siswa dan mengetahui peningkatan siswa dalam istilah keterampilan menulis mereka dari penggunaan strategi pemetaan pikiran dalam mengajar teks deskriptif siswa kelas VII MTsN 1 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini menggunakan Desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subyek penelitian ini adalah kelas 7B MTsN 1 Kota Serang. Berdasarkan pengalaman peneliti sebagai guru di kelas tersebut, siswa memiliki masalah dan mencapai nilai rendah dalam tugas menulis deskriptif. MOBIL dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Ada pre-test sebelum siklus dan post-test setelah setiap siklus. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa. Itu rata-rata nilai pre-test adalah 59,9. Pada post-test siklus 1 ditingkatkan menjadi 75.79. Nilai rata-rata pada post-test dua dan post-test tiga adalah 79,05 dan 82,6. Skor pre-test meningkat 22,7 poin di post-test 3. Proses pikiran penerapan strategi pemetaan dalam proses belajar mengajar meliputi pengembangan ide dengan menggunakan peta pikiran, mengubah ide dalam peta pikiran menjadi kalimat, dan menyusun paragraf berdasarkan peta pikiran. Berdasarkan pengamatan, siswa berpartisipasi aktif selama pelajaran dan keterampilan menulis mereka juga meningkat dari isi, organisasi, kosa kata, penggunaan bahasa, atau mekanik penulisan. Oleh menerapkan strategi pemetaan pikiran, siswa menghemat waktu dalam pra-menulis, penataan, dan menyelesaikan tugas menulis

Additional Information: This research was conducted to describe the implementation of mind mapping strategy in students’ descriptive text writing and find out students’ enhancement in term of their writing skill from the use of mind mapping strategy in teaching descriptive text at seventh grade of MTsN 1 Kota Serang. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. The subject of this research was 7B class of MTsN 1 Kota Serang. Based on the researcher experience as teacher in that class, the students had problems and achieve low score in descriptive writing task. CAR was conducted in three cycles. There were pre-test before the cycles and post-test after every cycle. The result showed improvement in students’ average scores. The average score in pre-test was 59.9. In post-test one of cycle 1 it was improved to 75.79. The average scores in post-test two and post-test three were 79.05 and 82.6. The pre-test score was increased by 22.7 points in post-test 3. The process of mind mapping strategy implementation in teaching learning process included developing ideas by using mind map, transforming ideas in mind map into sentence, and constructing a paragraph based on the mind map. Based on observation, students actively participated during the lesson and their writing skill was enhanced either from the content, organization, vocabulary, language use, or writing mechanic. By applying mind mapping strategy, students saved time in pre-writing, structuring, and completing writing task.
