Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pengajaran berbicara menggunakan U-shape tata letak format pada kelas 1 SMPN 1 Tigaraksa dan mendeskripsikan respon siswa terhadap teknik guru dalam mengajar berbicara di SMPN 1 Tigaraksa-Tangerang. Subyek penelitian ini adalah seorang guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas satu kelas C. Peneliti melakukan penelitian kualitatif dengan menerapkan deskriptif desain, di mana data yang dikumpulkan dalam bentuk kata-kata daripada angka. Itu peneliti melakukan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi sebagai data teknik pengumpulan. Wawancara diberikan kepada guru dan siswa dan dokumentasi diambil dengan guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa. Dalam menganalisis data, Peneliti menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa proses pengajaran berbicara dengan menggunakan kelas format U-bentuk memungkinkan guru untuk mendapatkan perhatian dari siswa saat proses pembelajaran. Guru bisa mengontrol aktivitas siswanya dari tempatnya. Tata letak format bentuk-U memberi motivasi kepada siswa dan juga tidak membuat bosan saat proses pembelajaran karena memberikan suasana baru bagi siswa di dalam kelas. Itu memberi kemudahan bagi mereka untuk melakukan kegiatan berbicara, seperti percakapan, membuat game, membuat dialog, dll. U-shape Format kelas memberikan dampak terhadap perkembangan siswa dalam keterampilan berbicara. Siswa rela melakukan latihan dan tugas tanpa merasa malu atau tidak percaya diri satu sama lain, Most siswa tertarik dengan tata letak format ini. Dari temuan di atas, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan kelas format U-shape berguna untuk membuat siswa untuk menjadi lebih aktif dan termotivasi di kelas berbicara.

Additional Information: This research aims to describe the process of teaching speaking using U-shape format layout at the first grade of SMPN 1 Tigaraksa and describe student’s response toward the teacher’s technique in teaching speaking at SMPN 1 Tigaraksa-Tangerang. The subjects of this research were an English teacher and students of the first grade of C class. The researcher conducted a qualitative research by implementing descriptive design, in which the data collected is in the form of word rather than the number. The researcher carried out observation, interview, and documentation as the data collection techniques. Interview was given to the teacher and students and documentation was taken with English teacher and students. In analyzing the data, the researcher used data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Result of data analysis showed that the process of teaching speaking by using U-shape format classroom allows teacher to get attention from students while learning process. Teacher could control her student’s activity from his/her place. U-shape format layout gave motivation to students and also did not make bored when learning process because it gave a new atmosphere to students in the class. It gave facilitation to them to do speaking activity, such as conversation, made a game, made a dialogue, etc. U-shape format classroom gave impact to student’s development in speaking skill. Students willingly to do exercise and task without feeling shy or unconfident each other, Most of students interested with this format layout. From the findings above, researcher conclude that implementing U-shape format classroom is useful to make students to be more active and motivated in speaking class.
