Abstract
The study is based on the negative stigma be essential meaning jihad in the social life.Currently purport jihad/holy war is considered by majority of people as a form of violence that must involve warfare. The method is applicable in qualitative. Research is aimed at knowing jihad represented in the movie. The movie is the mass media in all communication. Ki wasyid are films that try to lift the nationalism made by clerics cilegon in the dutch colonial occupation in 1888. This research using cultural theory studies that asserts that value the importance of cultural derived from the fact that helped build the structure and form history. The research will find a movie with a logician roland barthes. The unit is preferred analysis is a scene in a movie scene ki wasyid considered represents a jihad. The scenes of the analysis based on a map of the Roland Barthes, Sign, mark denotasi, the connotations, sign a connotations and a connotation. And the next step is seeking a myth. The study concludes that a film representation in ki wasyid symbolized by the scenes of a play; supported also by dialogs spoken players shows that jihad is the spirit which should be owned by the younger generation today. A broader than for warfare, various social status that can be considered to be a jihad as students, parents to educate a child, teacher and scholar who give without making war and to his disciples and religious understanding of the environment is the essence of jihad and need need to do today, for the battle is not physically representative in the present era.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini didasari pada stigma negatif akan esensi makna jihad dalam perilaku kehidupan sosial. Saat ini pemaknaan jihad masih dipandang oleh sebagian besar orang sebagai bentuk kekerasan yang harus melibatkan peperangan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui jihad direpresentasikan dalam film. Film adalah media komunikasi massa. Ki Wasyid merupakan film yang berusaha mengangkat praktik nasionalisme yang dilakukan oleh Ulama Cilegon di masa penjajahan kolonial Belanda pada tahun 1888. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Cultural Studies yang menegaskan bahwa nilai pentingnya budaya berasal dari fakta bahwa budaya membantu membangun struktur dan membentuk sejarah. Peneliti akan menganalisis film dengan model semiotika Roland Barthes. Unit analisisnya yaitu dipilih berbagai adegan dalam scene pilihan film Ki Wasyid yang dianggap merepresentasikan makna jihad. Selanjutnya adegan-adegan tersebut dianalisis berdasarkan peta tanda milik Roland Barthes yang meliputi penanda, petanda, tanda denotasi, penanda konotasi, petanda konotasi dan tanda konotasi. Serta tahap selanjutnya yaitu mencari makna mitos. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa representasi jihad dalam film Ki Wasyid disimbolkan melalui setiap adegan-adegan yang dimainkan, didukung juga dengan dialog-dialog yang diucapkan para pemain menunjukkan bahwa jihad merupakan semangat yang harus dimiliki oleh generasi muda saat ini. Jihad lebih luas dari sebatas peperangan, bermacam status sosial lainnya yang bisa dianggap sebagai pelaku jihad seperti pelajar, orang tua yang mendidik anak, guru atau ulama yang tanpa melakukan perang tetapi memberikan pemahaman agama kepada murid-muridnya dan lingkungan sekitar merupakan esensi jihad yang lain dan perlu dipraktikkan saat ini, karena jaman peperangan secara fisik sudah kurang representatif di era sekarang. | |||||||||
