Abstract

Presence EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) technology is to replace the carburetor to supply a mixture of fuel and air that will be entered into the machine. The purpose of this study is to determine of fuel consumption efficiency after the injection system installation, and the effect of exhaust gases temperature. This study used a machine with 37.7 cc cylinder capacity. The fuel used is premium with 88 octane number, pertamax with 92 octane number and pertamax plus with 95 octane number that obtained from Pertamina gas stations. Engine speed used is 2500, 3500 and 4500 rpm. From the test can be concluded the injection system installation can save fuel consumption and improve exhaust gas temperature. On testing with premium, fuel consumption savings amounted to 12.77% at 2500 rpm, 15.52% at 3500 rpm, and 24.05% at 4500 rpm. As well as an increase exhaust gas temperature is 1.62% at 2500 rpm, 1.86% at 3500 rpm, and 2.03% at 4500 rpm. On testing with pertamax, fuel consumption savings amounted to 11.36% at 2500 rpm, 14.81% at 3500 rpm, and 22.06% at 4500 rpm. As well as an increase exhaust gas temperature is 1.97% at 2500 rpm, 2.15% at 3500 rpm, and 2.35% at 4500 rpm. On testing with pertamax plus, fuel consumption savings of 11.36% at 2500 rpm, 16.36% at 3500 rpm, and 22.86% at 4500 rpm. As well as an increase exhaust gas temperature is 1.86% at 2500 rpm, 2.06% at 3500 rpm, and 2.28% at 4500 rpm. Keywords: Motor Gasoline, EFI, Carburetor, Fuel Consumption, Exhaust.
