Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate students’ achievement and enhancement in the ability of conceptual understanding and mathematical disposition by using Knisley mathematics learning model and direct learning. This research is used mixed method (a combination of qualitative and quantitave method) and concurrent embedded design. The populations in this study werethe eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Serang. The students in 8A and 8B classes were chosen as the sample of the research. Quantitative samples were selected randomly and qualitative samples were selected by purposive sampling . One class as the experimental group who received MPMK and another class as a control group who received direct learning. A test of conceptual understanding of mathematical ability, mathematical disposition scale, observation sheet, interview result, and documentation were used as the research instrument. The result of the data was analyzed by SPSS Statistic Version 20 using t-test and Mann-Whitney test. It is concluded that: (1) the achievement and Enhancement of student’s in the ability of mathematical conceptual understanding who received MPKM better than those of students who received direct learning(2) there’s no better result of the students’ achievement on mathematical disposition who received MPMK than those of students who received direct learning, (3) the enhancement of student’s in mathematical disposition who received MPKM better than those of students who received direct learning .
